Geographical Distribution of Ticks (Soft and Hard) in the City of Boyerahmad (Kohghiloyeh and Boyerahmad Province) 2008

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to investigate the geographical distribution of ticks in the Boyerahmad city. Survey occurred in the 1/10 of villages in the city from animal shelters, fowl nests, animal bodies and households. Ticks were collected in different seasons. It was collected 2,173 ticks (soft, hard); 820 were soft ticks (Argasidae family) and 1,353 were among hard ones (Ixodidae). Argas and Ornithodorus were recognized among soft ticks. Argas persicus (23.92%), A. reflexus (2.5%) and O. lahorensis (11.32%) were identified. Among hard ticks 3 genus and 7 species were identified as follow: Haemaphysalis sulcata 27%, H. conceinae (0.43%), Hyamba scholzei (8.51%), H. marginatum (4.80%), H. deteritum (4.80%), Rhipicephalus bursa (3.81%), and R. sanguineus (0.55%,). A. persicus and H. sulcata were the main species.
